Best Things to Do in Honolulu for A Weekend In Spring

honolulu hawaii

Has Hawaii been on your bucket list for a while now? It’s hard to beat the sun, beach, and beautiful landscape. I got the chance to visit Honolulu in the spring a few years ago. My sister and brother-in-law were living on the island of Oahu at the time, and of course, I was more than excited to visit them in such a gorgeous location. It was wonderful to get to spend time with family, while learning about everything that encompasses Hawaii. Right now, there are travel restrictions due to the pandemic, so be sure to check out what you need to do here before you go. With that said, I hope this post helps you make the most out of your time in Honolulu. Here are some of the best things to do in Honolulu for a weekend in spring:

1. Go hiking and swim in a lagoon

You’ll find some amazing hikes and trails in Honolulu. During my trip, my family took me walking on a trail that wasn’t far from Waikiki Beach. As we trudged our way through the tree branches of the forest, the fresh air and gentle breeze felt like a welcoming friend. At the end of the trail was a beautiful lagoon where everyone jumped from a nearby rock into the cold, blue water. It felt so nice to wade in the lagoon for a while; I would definitely recommend it. The hiking experience was of my favorite memories in Honolulu.

2. Take a swim next to Diamond Head

The weather during the spring was not too cold and not too hot in Honolulu, so taking a dip in the ocean was pretty nice. Obviously, the beach is a must when you’re in Hawaii, especially when you get in the water. I was also a big fan of walking along the tide barefoot, getting lost in your thoughts, and taking it slow. When you’re on the beach, you’ll also get a nice view of Diamond Head, a volcanic tuff cone on the island.

3. Lounge on Waikiki Beach

You can’t take a trip to Honolulu without lounging on the famous tourist destination of Waikiki Beach. The sand beneath your feet is so soft and white. Don’t forget to bring your sunscreen, umbrella, towels, and water, as well as anything else you might need to protect yourself from the sun. In the spring, the sun didn’t feel too harsh and there was a nice breeze from the ocean, so check out your weather situation prior to planning a visit.

4. Devour the food of Honolulu

My sister and brother-in-law took me to some of their favorite places to eat, which included Hula Grill near Waikiki Beach and Ono Cheese Steak. Both eateries were quite tasty and filling. Of course, there’s many different dishes to try when you’re in Honolulu. Some of the most recommended dishes I’ve heard about include: kalua pig, lomi lomi salmon, poke, malasadas, and shave ice. Next time, I’d love to get a taste of the fresh fruit, such as pineapple. It’s making my mouth water just thinking about it. 5. Catch a beach sunset

There’s nothing else quite like watching the sunset on the beach, is there? Especially when you’re in Hawaii. It makes for the perfect end to your day. So, before you call it a night, walk out to the beach and catch a glimpse of the sun setting across the water. Sometimes all we need is to appreciate the little things in life.
