1. Take A Stroll Through Boston Common

If the weather permits, opt to spend lots of time outside soaking up the sun on the grounds of Boston Common. This area is home to the oldest park in America, filled with historical landmarks such as the Freedom Trail. On a beautiful day, you’ll most likely see a large number of tourists as well as locals taking a stroll or lounging on the grass. It’s a wonderful spot to start your adventure and begin learning more about the history of the city.

2. Explore Freedom Trail

Speaking of its history, it’s impossible not to see elements of the past as you explore the city. From the number of famous landmarks to the design of the architecture, the entire city is like one big history lesson. When you get to Boston Common, be sure to look for the red brick line on the ground (pictured above). The red bricks signify the Freedom Trail, a 2 and a half mile path with numerous famous landmarks to spot along the way. Check out their website to learn more about the details of the Freedom Trail.

3. Find the perfect view of Boston Harbor

If you’re like me and love admiring the skyline of different cities, then you have to put this on your list when in Boston. One location for capturing an amazing shot of the harbor with the city in the background would be Piers Park. It may take some time getting there if there’s lots of traffic, but the views from this park are worth it. Additionally, the park itself is a great spot to reflect and relax, as there’s lots of benches, trees, and walkways.

4. Chow down on lobster rolls

As a port city, Boston is known for its delicious seafood. Everything from oysters to lobster can be purchased fresh and ready to eat. Although the lobster may be expensive, due to limited supply and high demand, it’s definitely a must to try at least once during your trip. Specifically, the lobster roll is made of lobster meat served on a grilled hot dog style bun and is quite popular along the New England coast. When searching for how to spend a weekend in Boston, you can’t go wrong with a generous serving of lobster.

5. Admire the architecture of the city

Boston has a mix of old and new in regards to the architecture of its buildings. In the 17th century, a colonial-style design was adopted after settlers from England arrived. As time went on, there have been influences of Georgian and Federal-style architecture as well. During your visit, make sure to admire all the different styles that make up this beautiful city. If you have the time, I’d also recommend doing some research about the city and how it came to be what it is today. That way, your travels will have much more meaning and definition.

There you have it! I hope this short post got you in the mood to explore Boston and see all it has to offer. This post doesn’t even scratch the surface of everything you can see in Boston, so let me know in the comment section what you’re most looking forward to doing!
