Has Thailand been on your mind for a while now? I had the opportunity to visit Bangkok a few years ago as my parents used to live there. My memories of the country are of the kind Thai people and the beautiful landscape. Below are some of the best things to do in Bangkok for a week:

1. Visit Wat Pho (Wat Phra Chetuphon)

Home of the reclining Buddha. Anyone who has traveled to Bangkok will most likely recommend stopping by Wat Pho, as it’s one of the most spectacular temples in the world. People come from all over the world to see the reclining Buddha, and I don’t doubt why. It is pretty amazing to behold. Recommend wearing clothes that cover your legs and shoulders, as they’ll provide you with extra clothes if you don’t cover up.

2. Explore Chatuchak Market

This market is home to a number of stalls selling clothes, food, souvenirs, and many more items. Thailand is one of the cheapest countries in the world and the dollar goes a long way, so make the most of that money while shopping. Making a stop here is one of the best things to do in Bangkok for a week, and check out their website to learn more. Additionally, if you keep your eyes open, you’ll find quite the number of cats lounging under the shade, trying to beat the heat. It’s hot in Bangkok!

3. Take a trip to Pattaya

The city of Pattaya is about a two hour drive from Bangkok, so if you have time during your visit, take a ride share over there. Pattaya Beach is a popular spot to soak up the sun and relax. My parents took us there during our visit, and it was definitely a fun little trip.

4. Eat Authentic Thai food

Would you agree that eating food from all over the world is the greatest part about traveling? I love it because food brings people together from different cultures and contributes to the enjoyment of life. Thai food is amazing and you’ll have plenty of options in Bangkok. We tried tom yum when we were there, specifically a place called Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu. Click here to see its location. If you’ve never had tom yum, it’s a sour Thai soup served hot with shrimp and the flavor combination is simply mouthwatering.

5. Ride the Sky Train

Exploring the city by train is highly recommended, as it’s affordable and a great way to see a lot of the city in a week. Spending time on the train during your visit is a must.

Thailand is such a unique travel destination with much to explore. I hope some of these ideas helped get your Bangkok itinerary started, and feel free to share your Bangkok stories in the comments section! Interested in more travel around Asia? Head over here next. Happy wandering! 😎✈
